Positions Through Triangualting#2

The 3D models I created last week turned out to simply state the fact of segregated seating practice. However, I want to question this kind of practice and also try to re-imagine a space where women can be comfortably seated. Therefore, Instead of making chairs that can not be seated, I shifted my intention to create models that provide comfortable seats.

There are two elements that I am referencing——the sunflower seed and the red plastic stool. These two objects are commonly seen in China.

The reason for choosing sunflower seeds and red plastic stools as part of my project is that both objects are commonly seen in Chinese domestic environments. When having dinner banquets in China, individuals always gather at one place with their family and relatives. Sunflower seeds and red plastic stools appear in these circumstances to serve as snacks and provide seats. Red plastic stools are used when there are not enough chairs. The link between these two objects and segregated seating practices is that while females are waiting for dinner, they sometimes sit on plastic stools because the chairs are already taken by men at the dinner table. When women feel hungry, they usually have snacks like sunflower seeds to relieve their hunger.
